What Is Lip Augmentation?
Like the rest of your skin, your lips lose collagen as you age, which affects the fullness, shape, and overall appearance of your mouth. Your lips can also be negatively influenced by smoking and sun exposure. Lip augmentation at Advanced Plastic Surgery Centre can help plump up your lips, making them appear more youthful and enhancing how you look.
There are several options for lip augmentation, including implants and injections. Dr. Perlman primarily uses Perma silicone with implants. It produces great results and comes in a variety of sizes. If you are interested in any of the lip augmentation procedures featured below, please contact Advanced Plastic Surgery Centre for more information or to schedule a consultation.

What Does Restylane Silk Do?
We enter the world with smooth skin and our features are at their best in our early adult years. Our lips receive harsh treatment throughout our lives, so deep wrinkles and lines are common. Restylane Silk eases those blemishes, heightening lips which were harmed by:
- growing older
- the sun’s rays
- smoking cigarettes
Post procedure, your lips will feel rejuvenated and had have a nicer, fuller look!
Take a look at the images of actual patients who have used Restylane Silk to achieve natural-looking results!
How Does The Restylane Silk Procedure Restore Lips?
Restylane Silk is a small filler with more compact particles intended to contour your lips. Because your lips are more susceptible to fillers than your other facial characteristics, Perlman Aesthetics administers the injections with ultrafine needles so you’ll feel hardly to no discomfort during the treatment. Restylane Silk will:
- plump up thinner lips
- even out lines on and/or around lips
- reshape your lips
After the procedure, your lips will appear innately soft to the touch and smooth for up to six months.
Benefits of Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
Once injected, the gel in the filler supports and shapes the tissues of the lips.
The benefits of using hyaluronic acid fillers include:
Control over lip volume. The amount of substance injected can be controlled, so the doctor has better control over how much lip volume is created.
Gradual pace of treatment. The injections can be given gradually during different appointments until the desired results are achieved.
Bumps dissolve easily. Any lumps and bumps created by movement of the lips can be dissolved easily.
Less bruising. There may be less bruising and swelling compared to other dermal fillers.
Reasonably lasting results. The results are reasonably long-lasting, but not permanent.
Are lip implants safe?
Lip implants are generally safe, but as with any cosmetic surgery, there are some risks. These may include:
- bleeding
- infection
- allergy to the anesthetic (lidocaine) or implant
After the surgery, the risk of side effects is usually minimal, and you should be able to fully resume normal activities after recovery.
In some cases, your lip implant may shift or move. If this happens, another surgery may be required to repair the implant.
Lip implants are a long-term augmentation option, and many people see great results with them. However, not everyone is happy with the way their lips look after surgery. If you’re not happy with your lip implants, surgery will be required to remove them.
Lip implants
One alternative to temporary lip fillers for lip augmentation is to use implants, which is a more permanent option. During your lip consultation, your doctor will determine what size lip implant would be best. The Permalip implant insertion is an in-office procedure. First, the skin is sterilized around the surgical area. Next, the lips are anesthetized. Once the lips are numb, an incision is made in each corner of the mouth.
A tunnel in the lip is created using a tool called a curved alligator clamp. The lip tunnel carefully follows the shape of the lip. Once the curved alligator clamp has reached the end of the tunnel, the clamp opens. The implant is grasped and dragged into the lip tunnel. The implant is positioned underneath the lip fat and above the lip muscles. Once the implants are in place, the incisions are closed with one or two absorbable sutures.
Surgical and nonsurgical options to plump up your lips
Lip fillers
Lip fillers are injected into the upper and lower lips. There are several different types of lip fillers, including Juvederm, Restylane, Voluma, and Perlane.
